Job Description

Our client are a leading Law firm who work with a number of blue-chip companies and are highly regarded.  This client firmly believes in working hard and being ambitious.  They are focused on ensuring that their employees achieve their full potential.

This successful team deals with the legal aspects of plot sales for their clients, including planning, development, investment, construction, litigation and dealing with both landlord and tenant matters. The team regularly acts on behalf of some of the UK’s biggest house builders.

 

 

Legal Secretary – The Role:

  • providing an effective organisational and administrative support service to a busy team of fee earners who specialise in acting for large PLC developer clients
  • assisting with the processing of land registry forms and other legal documentation
  • assisting with the issue of contract packs to solicitors
  • attending to clients and other solicitors on the telephone, taking messages and assisting generally with the conveyancing process
  • producing accurate documents and overseeing the case management system (training will be provided)
  • assisting with monthly billing and other related financial administration
  • opening and closing of electronic files
  • using a case management system to process and progress cases
  • taking telephone calls and messages, handling queries and enquiries
  • archiving, storage and retrieval of documentation (electronic and paper versions)
  • typing documents and correspondence 
  • processing incoming and outgoing post and arranging couriers
  • general administrative tasks including; photocopying, filing, printing and archiving

Legal Secretary – The Candidate

  • ideally 6 months legal secretarial experience gained within a real estate team
  • experience of inputting SDLT, carrying out searches and Land Registry applications
  • a minimum grade C pass at GCSE (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics
  • confidence with IT systems, including Microsoft Word, Excel and ideally PowerPoint
  • fast and accurate keyboard skills
  • the ability to work well in a team and develop good working relationships with colleagues and clients
  • the ability to demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, initiative and self confidence
