Job Description

Our fantastic client, based close to Uttoxeter, are looking for an Operations Director to join their team on a full time, permanent basis. This is a key role to support the MD, responsible for all operational aspects of the business in accordance with the overall business strategy, plan and policies. 

£70,000 + bonus 
Permanent role
25 days holiday + bank holidays (option to buy & sell). 

Operations Director - The Role:

Key Functions & Responsibilities:
  • Lead, inspire and motivate the operations department.
  • Assess, Plan, Forecast and Deliver all operational projects.
  • Predict and monitor resource needs to match current operational requirements.
  • Direct all day-to-day operations to support the efficient running of the business, maintaining an operational action and activity plan to ensure effective delivery and overall business continuity.
  • Support the MD in the development and implementation of the overall business plan to ensure they conduct its business in an efficient and profitable manner at all times.
Specific Roles & Duties:
  • Implement an operational strategy to manage and meet all KPl's and business targets, set within agreed budgets and timescales.
  • Day-to-day control and management of operational aspects, ensuring efficient use of resource. Implement actions in-line with delegated responsibilities, analysing and recommending courses of action when decisions are required by the MD.
  • To ensure understanding and develop solutions to aid the business strategy in-terms of bidding and winning orders.
  • Ensure all site personnel are competent in their functional roles and operate at all times within the process, procedure and legislative requirements.
  • Utilise all opportunities during live projects to strengthen relationships with customers to ensure continued, repeat and new business, understanding competitors and act to offset threats, maximising their market position.
Operations Director - The Candidate:
  • Extensive operations management experience and relevant professional qualifications.
  • NEBOSH / IOSH Certificate (Mandatory)
  • Significant construction related industry experience. 
  • In depth knowledge of diverse business functions and principles including; logistics, supply chain, customer service etc.
  • A driven and success-focused professional, willing to take responsibility, show empathy for the needs of others, with a proven ability to work within a team-based environment.
  • Proven operational management and leadership skills, with excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Ability to work without guidance, identifying and resolving issues without the need to reference others.
  • Ability to communicate coherently and handle high levels of pressure.
  • Analytical skills to evaluate data and performance/operational metrics.
  • A decision maker, with acceptance of responsibility beyond their defined role, and a willingness to work additional hours to achieve operational success for the business.
