Business Development Manager - Technical

Job Description

My client are market leaders in the design and manufacture of smart
technology.

They are seeking a technically minded business developer to join their team on a permanent basis. 

Key duties will include:
Assist in the technical aspects of the sales process, including requirement specification and
product demonstrations.
• Prospect for new business opportunities and identify potential customers.
• Support new customers in the initial stages of product integration and use.
• Conduct regular meetings with customers to assess ongoing requirements.
• Aid the business development team in understanding and responding to new market
opportunities due to legislative changes or technological advancements.
• Report internally on market trends and customer feedback.
• Contribute to the company's sales strategy, particularly in identifying and leveraging opportunities. 
• Actively participate in, and present at, industry functions and external conferences,
providing insights and representing the company's interests and capabilities.
• Collaborate closely with marketing, product development, and engineering teams to align
sales strategies with company capabilities and market trends.
Accountabilities and Outcomes
• Ensure high customer satisfaction and retention during the initial stages of product
adoption.
• Successfully translate technical features into compelling sales propositions.
• Provide insightful market feedback to guide product development and marketing strategies.
• Effective representation of the company at industry events and conferences.
• Efficient management of initial customer queries, enhancing customer satisfaction and trust.
• Successful negotiation and management of contracts and tenders.

Technical Business Development Specialist - The Candidate:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Sales, Business, or a related field, or an
equivalent combination of education and/or experience in these areas.
• In-depth understanding of wireless protocols, particularly EnOcean.
• Proficiency in system architecture for wireless systems and knowledge of IoT connectivity
such as MQTT, Azure IoT Hub, and AWS IoT Core.
• In-depth knowledge of the smart buildings solutions market.
• Knowledge of tendering processes and contractual negotiations.
• Ability to stay updated with evolving IoT technologies, emphasising adaptability and
continuous learning.
• Professional certifications in IoT technologies or sales (desirable).
• Proven experience in a technical sales role, particularly in IoT or related fields.
• Strong communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with clients at all levels,
including C-level executives.
• Demonstrated ability to understand and articulate complex technical concepts.
• Experience in customer relationship management and business development.
• Experience in strategic planning and handling tender processes.
• A track record of identifying and capitalising on market opportunities.
• A track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
• Proficient in using CRM software for effective customer relationship and sales process
management.
• Strong problem-solving skills, particularly in identifying and addressing customer needs and
challenges.
